African Wildlife Foundation Partners with Gecko Publishing and Travel Africa Magazine

Since its establishment in 1961, the African Wildlife Foundation – formerly known as the African Wildlife Leadership Foundation — has served as a continual source of advocacy for the preservation of the continent’s wildlife, striving to bring forth awareness of the endangerment of various species throughout Africa. With the valued support of African citizens such as Tunde Folawiyo and countless others throughout the world, Africa’s endangered species may thrive once again.

In keeping true to this commitment to protecting the world’s endangered animals, the African Wildlife Foundation and Gecko Publishing have recently launched a partnership that will see the UK-based magazine publishing company’s production of a customised version of each issue of its Travel Africa magazine. These special issues will be distributed to 3,000 of AWF’s major donors and partners. Additionally, each regular issue of Travel Africa will contain a two-page conservation advertorial section supplied by African Wildlife Foundation.

“With Africa’s wildlife and natural habitats under intense pressure, a conservation message underpins much of Travel Africa’s editorial message,” says Craig Rix, publisher of Gecko Publishing and Travel Africa. “The new partnership will enable the magazine to increase its coverage of these issues.”

With headquarters in Nairobi, African Wildlife Foundation remains one of the world’s foremost African conservation groups. The group’s success in engaging local communities, park authorities and stakeholders in a wide variety of conservation projects across the continent have proved immeasurable in their fight to protect the region’s dwindling animal populations.

As an organisation, it is the African Wildlife Foundation’s mission to focus on identifying large, ecologically important areas housing a variety of endangered species. These areas are home to a wide range of animals that include mountain gorillas, white rhinos, Western African giraffes and elephants among many others in need of immediate assistance. In addition to their commitment to promoting the preservation of the continent’s endangered species, the African Wildlife Foundation also strives to raise awareness of the dire consequences of climate change. Whilst the continent of Africa as a whole accounts for only a small portion of the world’s fossil fuel consumption, many countries throughout the continent will experience the brunt climate change’s tragic impact if not enough is done to combat rising global temperatures. In addition to these, AWF brings awareness to a host of other issues impacting Africa and the rest of the world. Through the continual support of millions of African citizens such as Tunde Folawiyo and millions of other animal lovers, the African Wildlife Foundation will proceed with its mission to create better conditions for today’s endangered species.
